Why is setting up a finance app so painful?
Connect your bank account, import transaction history, verify accounts — it sounds like a to-do list, not a welcome experience. Most users drop off before they see their first data. According to Mixpanel research (2024), 74% of users abandon an app if setup takes longer than 3 minutes.
Martia fixes this with a wizard that walks you through the entire process step by step. Connect your bank via GoCardless (supported Polish banks: mBank, ING, PKO BP, Santander, and more), import CSV history if you want, review your accounts, and click “Start”. The whole thing takes 2 minutes.
What happens after you click “Start”?
The wizard launches a real-time sync — you see a progress bar for each stage: fetching transactions from your bank, flagging internal transfers, and AI categorization. The transaction counter updates live. You don’t have to wait — categorization continues in the background.
Once complete, you’re automatically taken to the spending dashboard with categorized data ready. The entire onboarding state is persisted — you can close your browser and come back to the same step. If your bank isn’t on GoCardless, CSV alone is enough to get started.

No. You can skip bank connection and start with CSV import from mBank or ING. Bank connection is optional — CSV gives you full categorization and statistics.
Depends on the number of transactions — usually 30–60 seconds. Bank fetching is fastest, AI categorization takes a bit longer. You see progress in real time.
Onboarding state is persisted, but once setup is complete you land in the full app. Adding more banks and CSV import are available in settings.
